THIS NOTEBOOK IS A PILGRIMAGE: FINDING THE WAY BACK HOME.
Home is where the heart is. When you know your heart, you are always home. Safe and sound. Peaceful and even joyful. It is that sense of self that fills your heart. That fills your day. That fills your life.
This notebook, divided into 8 chapters, represent 8 aspects of your life that you should document. 8 pieces of yourself that won’t promise to make you whole but rather, more complete.
Chapter 1 - The Hallway - This is where you write down all the things that inspire you. Your favorite books, movie scenes and bands. Fictional characters who help you discover your passion. Lyrics that resonate. Nature. The way someone works. Poems. Paintings. People who make you want to live forever because this lifetime just might not be enough. Art that gets you. Words that warm your heart. “Follow your feeling. Your feeling is your guide. Don’t force your guide.”
Chapter 5 - Monsters Under the Bed - We all have those. Insecurities. Fears. Nightmares. Monsters. What is your singular, deepest fear? What does it tell you about your singular, deepest desire? What keeps you up at night? Negative thoughts that come to you most often. Things you tend to avoid at all cost. Are you making too many decisions out of fear? What decisions? Should you start making decisions out of love? Would you be able to sleep better? (There’s only one way to find out.)
Chapter 8 - Starry Starry Night - We can always look up to see all the stories the universe has for us. Sometimes the stars can teach us a lot about who we are as people. What is your place in the universe? What happens after death? Is your destiny formed by choice or chance? What gives your life meaning today? What leaves you feeling purposeful? This chapter is all about your spiritual life.
Writing about being alive, how grateful and disappointed it sometimes makes you feel, is a great way to find out who you are, and more importantly, to stay who you are. Because when you forget, you can always look at it and be reminded again. And again.
This is home.
“When I lose my heart, bring it back to me.”
