ONE FINE SUNDAY - A notebook for weekly self-reflection

Time passes so quickly. Each week comes and goes, sometimes leaving us with nothing—no memories, no insights, no wisdom. Before we know it, a year has gone by, and we are at the exact same place as before. Yet, there are so many things happening in a week that can offer us more than enough to grow, if only we actually take the time to reflect.

There’s no better way to reflect than to write. “We write to taste life twice: in the moment and in retrospect.” (Anaïs Nin) This notebook aims to help you spend some time each week with yourself, to bear solitude and come out the other end with wisdom, clarity and strength. Divided into 8 chapters, this is an evolutionary journey of the self. As soon as you embark on this self-reflection ride, you will realize how rich you already are. And that you’ve been overlooked for far too long, by the most important person—yourself.

Chapter 1—Mindfulness: The quality of your self-reflection process very much depends on the quality of your attention. That’s why you need to learn to practice mindfulness. Now, that doesn’t mean you have to sit down and observe your breath all day long. It means you need to be present. Learn to focus on the task at hand and free your mind from the rest. That one simple alteration will change the course of your life, for reasons that will unfold in the next few chapters.

Chapter 4—Self-understanding: With all the information you have about yourself, the process of analyzing and synthesizing begins. You start using what you learn about yourself to your own advantage. Believe it or not, we all think we know what is good for us and what isn’t, what we can do and what we can’t. But reality might suggest otherwise. Why does someone keep making decisions that aren’t good for them? Why does someone keep choosing things that aren’t even close to what they need? Or deserve? The answer is sometimes much simpler than we would like to admit: perhaps we all need to understand ourselves a little bit more.

Chapter 8—Self-love: At the end of this self-reflection journey, you should feel love. You’ve come a long way towards understanding yourself, and that’s no easy task. While this journey is ongoing, take a moment to appreciate yourself. Always remember, self-love is important. There are many ways that we hurt ourselves when we don’t like who we are. Learn to live like someone who likes themselves, who has their own back, who is their own best friend. You have to support you. Of all the people in this world, you should never leave yourself alone. Always be there for yourself. And learn to express love to yourself. Every. Single. God. Damn. Day.

Your days already offer you enough experiences to get where you want; you just need a little bit more self-reflection to turn them into wisdom. So, let’s get to it. One Sunday at a time.
