ONE FINE SUNDAY (THE JOURNAL)* — A NOTEBOOK FOR WEEKLY SELF-REFLECTION

Time passes so quickly. Each week comes and goes, sometimes leaving us with nothing—no memories, no insights, no wisdom. Before we know it, a year has gone by, and we are at the exact same place as before. Yet, there are so many things happening in a week that can offer us more than enough to grow, if only we actually take the time to reflect.

Inside this box, there are 90 cards with 90 questions divided into 3 levels: self-awareness, self-understanding, and self-compassion. If you happen to hang out with your friends on a lazy weekend, why not use the chance to talk about things that unpack your load and widen your perspective? Conversations can really help you notice things you missed, scratch the surface of your own experience, and learn something new about yourself. Use this process to build the strength to be there for yourself, and eventually become someone you can depend on from time to time.

Your days already offer you enough experiences to get where you want; you just need a little bit more self-reflection to turn them into wisdom. So, let’s get to it. One Sunday at a time.

Level 1: Self-awareness
At this level, you will recall the events of your week in as much detail as possible. Describing your experiences as an observer will broaden your perspective and reveal new insights. This is how you gain self-awareness—by sharpening your ability to observe. Cultivate the habit of separating yourself into two versions: one that experiences and one that observes.

Level 2: Self-understanding
This is where you will take a closer look at your experiences. Human beings don’t just do things. We are all driven by a multitude of forces—our reasoning, emotions, values, motives, and even our traumas. Many factors influence how we act and react in life. Once you get a hold of those driving forces, a lot of things will start to make sense. It takes great hard work to understand oneself, but the reward will be a life well spent.

Level 3: Self-compassion
Too much introspection can make you self-conscious and shy. You have to navigate the self-reflection process with both courage and kindness toward yourself. It's a balance you must learn to get right, and it will definitely be challenging. But there’s no point in trying to become a better person while you’re beating that person down at the same time.

(*) In addition to the Journal version, One Fine Sunday also offers a Card Deck version if you are hesitant to write and prefer conversations.
